behind the scenes...

we all know that a circus just doesn't 'happen'...there have been endless hours spent to start a show; travel, training the animals, practice for the performers, food prep and on and on...

the circus is a family - spending their lives together as a whole....town to town

in this series you may have noticed that all the pieces that are introduced do not carry my known black undercoat of paint...there was a purpose for this...i wanted to keep the secrets of the circus, the background, their lives, their 'real' life hidden underneath of the collectors eye...for afterall, if you know the secrets, the truths of the hard work, you won't look at the circus through child eyes...

while doing the research on the circus - it was of course the behind the scenes photos that would draw me in...the 'real' life of the people at work and at play...i wanted to share some of the photos with you and overtime i'm sure i will come across more to add - for the mystery of the circus is in my childhood heart but as an adult i can appreciate the work that it has taken for them to be able to transport us to a whole other world for an hour or two...phenominal...
